Maxi Skirt

Last week I got on this kick about sewing, and sewing new clothes, and I have not stopped :) I am loving what I am creating its so much fun! I have TONS of fabric that has just been sitting in my craft room, and I never knew what to do with it! Well finally I am using it up! The fabric that I made this skirt out of is fabric from the 80's that my mom gave me.

This is my first attempt at trying to show someone how to sew anything! Lets see if I can do it!

FIrst you need a 1 1/2 Yards of Jersey Knit fabric. Measure your waist wear you want your skirt to fit. Set your sewing machine to as long of a stitch as it can, mine was .5 mm.

Measure your waist size to the middle of your fabric. Make sure you have an even amount of fabric on both sides of your waist measurement and mark your fabric. Cut at a diagonal from your waist measurement to the bottom of your skirt, so it looks like this.

Fold the fabric in half with right sides facing, and sew down the longs side, using 1/2 inch seem.

To make a stretch waist bad. Fold the top of the fabric down 3 inches and sew around bottom of the band.

Fold band again 3 inches, the seem you just sewed with be at the top of your skirt. Sew the sides of the band down on the seem.  Make sure you use a thread that matches the fabric, and make sure you back stitch.

It will create a little band like this.

Now hem the bottom for the length you want and your done!

This is the finished product! It took me about 25 minutes to make this skirt. SUPER EASY!!! It looks really cute on and will be a great little Summer Skirt, nice and light weight! I love it!

Easy Breakfast Sandwich

I have seen a bunch of pins on Pinterest about cooking eggs in muffin tins. I thought I would try it! But, the recipes that I saw were not exactly what I wanted, so I made up my own!

For Spinach Egg Sandwiches you need . . .

5 Eggs
1/2 Onion
Sprinkle Salt and Pepper
1/2 Cup Chopped Spinach
1/2 Cup Coconut Milk
(You could add green pepper)

I used my Ninja blender. Blend milk, eggs, salt and pepper, very well. Add veggies, slightly blend to mix veggies.

For plain Egg Sandwiches you need . . .
6 Eggs
Sprinkle Salt and Pepper
1/2 Cup Coconut Milk

Again, I used my Ninja blender. Blend milk, eggs, salt and pepper, very well.

Pour egg mixture into muffin tin.
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

Sprinkle with cheese, and add to whole wheat english muffin. You could add bacon or sausage, but we are trying to stay low calorie at our house. Enjoy!

My pictures are not great, my camera was dead and I took these with my phone.

Today I Cried . . . Happy Tears!!!

Today I stepped on my scale to see this . . .

Today I cried. . .

I made my goal. I did it. WOOHOO!!!!! I DID IT!!!!!

I cried happy tears. I was so full of emotions I did not know what to do to but cry! I am so happy for myself. I know that 139, is not everyones goal weight. But, it was my goal. And for me being 5'9, I am happy to be in the 130's. Since I started 3 months ago, I have lost 12% of my body weight, since I started over a year ago I have lost, 23%!

If you have not been following my blog, here is how I did it, in a quick summery!

I have been following the Clean Eating Diet. I eat mostly fruits and veggies and lean meats and fish. I will allow myself to have treats every now and then. I will still eat out every now and then, but when I do, I have portion control, I don't eat a carton of french fries, I have one drink ( not soda ). I try and make a healthier choice of what restaurant we go to.
I make a meal plan and we stick to it. Thanks to Pinterest for giving me great meal ideas, I have been able to try so many new foods, that I never thought I would like or that my kids would like. I make sure that I use portion control. At first I felt like I was starving, now that small plate is normal. 1/2 cup of cereal and coconut milk is normal. I have learned that you don't need to eat a huge meal to feel full. It takes a little time to get your body used to eating that way, but I feel so much better now that I have.

I drink about 40 - 50 oz of water a day. Water helps me feel full and not feel like snacking especially late in the afternoon.

I workout 6 days a week, my workouts are 40 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. It depends on what I am doing that day. I like to do deferent exercises each day to change things up, and not get bored. I like to use free weights, and an exercise ball. When I started I could not do more then 2-3 lunges at a time, now I can 30 +. Whatever exercise felt hard, I did it more. I did it until it was not hard anymore.

I am not giving up because I made my goal. I like eating healthy, I like working out. I don't want to stop what habits I have created. I like the way I feel when I eat healthy. I like the way I feel when I exercise. Why, would I ever want to stop? I did this for myself, I did this for my kids and my husband. I want to be around for a really long time, I want to live to be 100, and I want to be healthy the entire time I am around.

I am not going to stop my healthy lifestyle, I am going to keep blogging recipes and exercises. My new goal is to get to 135, and have a six pack. I am so close!!! I will post pictures next week. I hope that I can make my supporters proud!

Thanks for supporting me and following my blog. It means a lot to me.
Thank you,
Marissa

Friday Workout - Its a tough one!!!

This morning, I was not able to go to my Class . . . Sad!!! But, I figure I am going to have a killer workout at home to make up for it! I found these pictures all on Pinterest.

I used 8 pound free weights, a chair, and my pole ( to hold onto for abs )

I started with this.

After each set of a 100, I did these . . .

15 x each Set.

Then I did 100 reps of different arm exercises using the chair and the free weight. Just do what you know how to do for example, I did a lot of bicep curls and hammer curls.

Next I did this workout, I did each of these 20 x on each leg. Except for the squat jumps, I only did 15.

After this set of exercises I went back to Arms and did 100 different reps with my 8 pound weights.

I moved onto this, this is basic exercises that WORK! I did these without stopping.

Last I finished up with 15 Sit Ups, and again did 100 different reps with my 8 pound weight and chair to work arms.

This workout took me about 40 minutes, and I was sweating the entire time! This workout left me feeling shaky, that mean it must be good, right?

Get rid of Flies

My back door is always left open, which means I always have disgusting flies coming into my kitchen. I found this thing on Pinterest, that I though was a way to make women on Pinterest do something stupid,  but I was desperate and tried it. I filled a ziplock baggy with water, and added 4 penny's. I hung it above my stove. I have only seen 2 flies in my kitchen in the last MONTH!!! I can't believe this trick works. Since it worked so well for me I though I would share it with you.

Thank you PINTEREST!!!!!!
